Currimundi Renovation
This Currimundi renovation transformed the home’s main living zone into a more functional, light-filled living space designed around everyday family life.
The project included a complete renovation of the kitchen, dining and living areas, with the brief extending well beyond simply updating the finishes. The clients wanted a multifunctional family space that could accommodate cooking, dining, relaxing and working from home, while also creating dedicated places for reading, books and treasured objects.
The Design Story
Designing the Space Around Everyday Life
One of the key considerations was how to make several different functions work comfortably within the one open-plan area.
The layout was carefully considered to create a generous family kitchen and dining zone alongside relaxed living areas, a practical home office space and a cosy reading corner. Integrated spaces for books, artwork and personal treasures gave the interior character and helped make the finished home feel genuinely individual.
Every element was considered in relation to the whole, allowing the different areas to connect visually while still having their own purpose.
Bringing More Natural Light Into the Home
A new window and door configuration was introduced as part of the renovation, significantly changing the relationship between the interior and garden.
The revised openings bring beautiful natural light into the living spaces and create stronger views to the greenery outside. From the reading and relaxation area, the garden becomes part of the experience of the room, helping the interior feel lighter, softer and more connected to its surroundings.
Material, colour and furnishing choices were then layered around this improved natural light to create warmth, comfort and visual cohesion.
A Home With Personality, Beauty and Function
The finished Currimundi interior balances aesthetic beauty with practical family functionality. It provides places to gather, work, read and relax without the space feeling formal or designed for appearance alone.
Most importantly, the home reflects the people who live there.
Great interior design is not about applying the same look to every project. It is about understanding the client, the architecture and how the spaces need to work, then creating a design that feels completely right for them.
A Home That Reflects the People Who Live There
The overall design direction was organic, modern and warm, with playful touches introduced through the clients’ favourite colour and personal collections.
Rather than following a particular trend, the design was developed around the personalities of the clients, the way they use their home and the atmosphere they wanted to create. The result is a considered family interior that feels personal, welcoming and connected to everyday life.
A warm family home, thoughtfully designed for everyday life.
